Zovirax Cream 5% – Prescription Cold Sore Treatment
Zovirax Cream, containing 5% acyclovir (50 mg/g), is a targeted treatment for recurrent herpes labialis (cold sores) on lips and face. Acyclovir selectively inhibits viral DNA polymerase after activation by viral thymidine kinase, halting HSV replication. Begin treatment at the earliest signs—tingling or soreness—and apply a thin layer five times daily for four days. Clinical trials show reduced symptom duration, and topical use results in minimal systemic absorption. Zovirax is contraindicated in those allergic to acyclovir or valacyclovir, and should not be used internally (e.g., eyes, mouth). Common side effects include mild site reactions such as stinging, burning, dryness, and dermatitis. Each 5 g tube contains acyclovir in a water-based cream with cetostearyl alcohol, mineral oil, poloxamer 407, propylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulphate, water, and white petrolatum

Cold Sore Cream
Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream delivers the active ingredient aciclovir efficiently and deeply into your skin to fight the virus that causes cold sores.
Zovirax is suitable for both adults and children.
Apply to the affected area five times a day at approximately four hourly intervals for four days. With a cotton swab or your finger, use enough to completely cover the sore and surrounding area. If you miss a dose, just apply the next time you remember and continue on schedule.
Keep using Zovirax® Cold Sore Cream for four days or until your cold sore is fully healed, for a maximum of 10 days.
