Fucidin 2% Cream & Ointment – Topical Fusidic Acid Antibiotic (Cream & Ointment)
Fucidin 2% (cream or ointment) contains the antibiotic fusidic acid sodium fusidate—effective against a range of Gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus and MRSA variants. Suitable for treating impetigo, folliculitis, infected eczema, infected wounds or burns, and infected dermatitis
Apply a thin layer to clean, dry skin 2–4 times daily, based on severity and clinical guidance. For lesions covered with dressings, once‑daily application is often sufficient. Typical treatment duration is 7–14 days, with reviews if symptoms persist longer than one week
Adverse reactions may include local itching, redness, dry skin, burning sensations, or blistering. Contact dermatitis is possible due to non-medicated ingredients such as cetyl alcohol or butylhydroxyanisole. Limit use to 14 days to minimise bacterial resistance risk
Fucidin cream 15g contains Fusidic acid which is a type of antibiotic. Fucidin cream works by killing germs (bacteria) that cause infections. Fucidin cream is used to treat conditions where the skin is infected by germs (bacteria), such as: Impetigo (a weeping, crusty and swollen patch of skin), infected dermatitis (inflammation of the skin) and spots, infected cuts and grazes.
This medicine is only for using on your skin or the skin of a child. Do not swallow it. Do not put it inside your body.
The active substance is Fusidic acid. 1 gram of Fucidin cream contains 20 mg of Fusidic Acid.
The other ingredients are Butylhydroxyanisole (E320), Cetyl Alcohol, Glycerol, Liquid Paraffin, Polysorbate 60, Potassium Sorbate, Purified Water, All-rac-?-tocopherol, Hydrochloric Acid and White Soft Paraffin.
