Flamazine Cream 1% – Silver Sulfadiazine Topical Antibacterial Cream
Flamazine Cream contains 1% w/w silver sulfadiazine, a topical sulfonamide antibiotic used for the prevention and treatment of bacterial infections in:
-
Burn wounds (partial and full thickness)
-
Skin graft donor/recipient sites, large abrasions, fingertip injuries
-
Leg ulcers or pressure sores (short-term use)
This sterile cream kills a broad spectrum of pathogens (Gram‑positive/negative bacteria, fungi, yeast), and is applied at a 3–5 mm layer using a sterile glove or spatula under non‑stick dressing. Reapply every 24 hours, with dressing changes daily or every 48 hours depending on wound exudate
Flamazine cream contains the active ingredient silver sulfadiazine, which is a type of antibiotic called a sulfonamide. Silver sulfadiazine is active against a wide range of bacteria, as well as some viruses and fungi. It stops these microbes from multiplying and causing skin infections.
For the treatment of burns
The burn wound should be cleaned, then Flamazine cream should be applied to the affected area using a sterile gloved hand or a sterile spatula. The layer of cream should be three to five millimetres thick. The wound should be cleansed and the cream reapplied every 24 hours, or more frequently if the burn is producing lots of discharge.
